Strong extra thickness, spread toward the center, appears on IN GOD WE TRUST, the lower queue, the designer's initials, the date and LIBERTY. On the obverse, a small gouge (dot) sits just left of the ribbon, on the lower back of the bust, and four vertical scratches sit left of the upper queue just under the hair. On the reverse, under the A in QUARTER, at its lower right, there is a short gouge. Gary Wagnon submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
