Description

The 1960 Proof Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-017 is a doubled die obverse (DDO) variety, where a misalignment during the die hubbing process created visible doubling on the obverse design elements. This variety was discovered on the 1960 Lincoln Memorial Cent - Proof Small Date, part of the Lincoln Memorial Cents 1959-2008 series. Die markers: Obverse: Small Date. A die gouge runs from SSW to NNE through the hair on the upper part of the head between GOD and WE. A die scratch runs from SW to NE to the left of and above the bowtie. Reverse: A die scratch runs from NNW to SSE through the top of the Memorial aand into the top of the 4th bay. A die short scratch runs from SSW to NNE on the right base of the Memorial.
