Description
The 1960 Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-001 is a doubled die obverse (DDO) variety, where a misalignment during the die hubbing process created visible doubling on the obverse design elements. This variety was discovered on the 1960 Lincoln Memorial Cent - Proof Small Date, part of the Lincoln Memorial Cents 1959-2008 series. Cross-referenced as Cherrypickers: FS-01-1960-101 (025), Breen: #2229, CONECA: 1-O-III, Coppercoins: 1960P-1DO-003P Comments: As a proof variety it is highly unlikely that more than 3,000 specimens of this variety exist, as that is the average die life for a Lincoln cent proof die. Here we see the die scratches that run from the hair above the ear ENE into the forehead.; Wexler Variety ID: 1960 1¢ Pr WDDO-001.
