Description

ADC-1c-1960D(LD)-01 At first glance, this 1960D large date Lincoln cent seemed to have one continuous die clash. However, closer examination showed that two clash events occurred, each having a slightly tilted die in the opposite direction of each other. The first overlay shows the clash that occurred to the east. The second overlay shows the clash that occurred to the west The picture to the left shows the clash marks left by the westward clashing of the dies. Notice the roof line and the vertical line that goes to the cornice on the Memorial building. The bottom of the letters AME, can be seen intersecting the mint mark. The mint mark is a repunched mint mark The picture to the left shows the clash marks left by the easterly event. The bays and columns left classh marks in the TY of LIBERTY and the back of Lincoln’s neck. The vertical line from the back of Lincoln is the vertical from the roof to the cornice. The picture to the left shows the clash marks left  from the obverse die. This was the westward event. These are the obverse clash marks left by the eastward event.
