1958-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-016

Description

From the final year of Victor David Brenner's wheat ears reverse, this VarietyVista-documented 1958-D Lincoln Cent carries the 16th cataloged RPM for the date. Die markers UVC-603 / DMR-019 track four stages: Stage A with a diagonal die scratch under W of WE at EDS, reverse at EDS; Stage B with several die gouges under the bust and a die chip on the right crossbar of T of CENT at EMDS; Stage C with the gouges persisting and additional die chips on the vertical bar of T of CENT at MDS; Stage D at LDS (unconfirmed). The progressive accumulation of die chips on the letter T across Stages B and C documents incremental metal fatigue in the inscription area. Struck at the Denver Mint in 95% copper and 5% tin-zinc at 3.11 grams and 19.05 mm, this date marks the terminus for Wheat Cent RPM production.
