1958-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-009

Description

A D/D Northeast variety from the final year of the Wheat Cent series, this VarietyVista-documented 1958-D Lincoln Cent carries the ninth cataloged repunched mintmark for the terminal Denver date. Die markers UVC-596 / DMR-012: Stage A has a die scratch between N and G of IN GOD at EDS with reverse at EMDS. Stage B features a die scratch north from I of LIBERTY at EMDS and a large concave die scratch through NT of CENT at EMDS. Stage C shows die scratches Northeast on obverse at EMDS with reverse at EMDS. Stage D is LDS (unconfirmed). The concave die scratch through CENT is an unusual curved surface anomaly. Composed of 95% copper and 5% tin-zinc at 3.11 grams and 19.05 mm, this Denver Mint issue marks the terminus of Brenner's wheat ears reverse that served from 1909 through 1958.
