The 1956 Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-006 is a doubled die obverse (DDO) variety, where a misalignment during the die hubbing process created visible doubling on the obverse design elements. This variety was discovered on the 1956 Proof Jefferson Nickel, part of the Jefferson Nickels Original Design 1938-2003 series. Die markers: Obverse: Die dot below the second T of TRUST; die scratches in Jefferson's hair above his forehead. Reverse: Die gouge (dot) below right portion of second A of AMERICA; die gouge below MO of MONTICELLO.
