Description

Cross-referenced as FS-501, this VarietyVista-documented San Francisco Mint Lincoln Wheat Cent carries an S/S/S Northwest, Northwest triple-punched mintmark as the primary RPM for the 1955-S date. Die markers span two pairings: UVC-544 / DMR-002 for Stage A with die scratches NE-SW through LIBERTY at EDS, reverse at EDS; Stage B with obverse at EMDS and a small die chip in the left wheat lines at MDS. Then UVC-545 / DMR-003: Stage C with weak obverse die scratches at MDS, and the reverse die changed at MDS; Stage D at LDS (unconfirmed). The reverse die change between Stages B and C is confirmed by the fresh MDS condition on the new reverse. The FS-501 listing makes this actively sought by Cherrypickers' Guide users. Composed of 95% copper and 5% tin-zinc at 3.11 grams and 19.05 mm.
