1955 Proof Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-002

Description

1955 WDDR-002 is a doubled die reverse on the 1955 proof Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The left wheat shows a close spread toward the center. The obverse is a doubled die too, which Wexler numbers 1955 1¢ Pr WDDO-005, with a close counterclockwise (CCW) spread on the letters of IN GOD WE TRUST and a slight one on LIBERTY's LIB. On obverse Stage A a die chip fills the top of TRUST's R; on Stage B a chip fills the top of TRUST's S. Wexler notes no significant reverse markers on Stage A. On Stage B a small gouge sits right of the top of PLURIBUS' B. John A. Wexler submitted Stage A and Peter Beane Stage B. Wexler lists no cross-references.
