1955 Proof Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Reverse DDR-009

Description

Among the proof-only doubled die reverses cataloged for the 1955 Lincoln Wheat Cent, DDR-009 presents medium spread on the lower wheat stems and OF AMERICA, accompanied by light spread on E PLURIBUS UNUM and the upper wheat tips. Documented by VarietyVista as UVC-2651 and DMR-022, the die state record identifies Stage A with a die gouge on the rim at the K-9:30 position in Early Die State, plus numerous fine die scratches in the lower vest visible in Late Die State. Stage B at Mid Die State and Stage C at Late Die State remain unconfirmed. The parent coin is the 1955 Proof Lincoln Wheat Cent, struck exclusively at the Philadelphia Mint for inclusion in proof sets — one of the final proof issues before the Mint suspended proof production in 1965.
