Description
1955 WDDR-014 is a doubled die reverse on the 1955 proof Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. E PLURIBUS UNUM and both wheat tips show Class II doubling. Obverse markers: light flow lines running to the rim from between IN's I and N and from the tops of GOD's G and O; a vertical gouge SE of TRUST's U; a flow line running to the rim above TRUST's S; a light diagonal scratch from the lower part of LIBERTY's L to the rim; and a series of horizontal scratches on the middle of the neck. Reverse markers: a series of gouges (dots) under the UNU of UNUM; a gouge NW of UNITED's U, with light vertical scratches heading north from that U; and light vertical scratches through most of the letters of UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Daniel Griffin submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
