1954-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-004

Description

A D/D/D North, South triple-punched mintmark documented by VarietyVista, this Denver Mint Lincoln Wheat Cent tracks five die stages with die clash evidence at Stage B. Die markers UVC-510 / DMR-005: Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B with a die clash at the throat at EMDS and die scratches east-west on the reverse at EMDS; Stage C with obverse at MDS and a die crack in the right wheat grains at MDS; Stage D with obverse at LMDS, a die chip in the right wheat grains at LMDS, and a die crack from the lower right wheat to rim; Stage E at LDS (unconfirmed). The die clash at Lincoln's throat indicates the dies struck each other without a planchet between them. The triple D/D/D pattern with north and south displacements documents three distinct punch contacts from opposing directions. Composed of 95% copper and 5% tin-zinc at 3.11 grams and 19.05 mm.
