Description

Exhibiting a D/D/D South, North triple-punched mintmark, this VarietyVista-cataloged 1954-D Lincoln Wheat Cent reveals punches displaced in opposing vertical directions. Die markers UVC-508 / DMR-003: Stage A with medium secondary mintmark to the south at EDS and reverse at EDS; Stage B with weak secondary mintmark to the south at MDS and reverse at MDS; Stage C with very weak secondary mintmark to the south at LDS and reverse at LDS. The systematic attenuation from medium to weak to very weak across three stages documents how die wear progressively flattens the displaced D impression, providing a textbook case of RPM visibility degradation. Struck in 95% copper and 5% tin-zinc at 3.11 grams and 19.05 mm, Denver produced approximately 117.2 million cents in 1954.
