1953 (S) Roosevelt Dime - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-002 / RPM-002

Description

1953-S WRPM-002 is a repunched mint mark on the 1953-S Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team and by VarietyVista as RPM-002. Both describe it as S/S Northwest, a secondary S northwest of the primary, and both cite it as FS-501 in the Cherrypickers' Guide (Wexler writes FS-10-1953S-501). Wexler's Coins and Die Varieties lists many N/S scratches in front of the mouth and a gouge below the T of LIBERTY on the obverse, and a NE/SW scratch right of the torch flames on the reverse. Wexler notes that the Bordner files do not record who submitted this die. CONECA lists it as RPM #2. VarietyVista does not name a reporter. Under its marker codes UVC-247 and DMR-003, stage A (an early die state) and stage C (a late die state) are unconfirmed. At stage B the reverse is in a middle die state and the obverse shows a crack from the head to the rim at 12 o'clock (K-12), also in a middle die state.
