1953-S Repunched Mintmark RPM-002

Description

RPM-002 on the 1953 (S) Roosevelt Dime shows the S mintmark punched over a previous S to the Northwest (S/S Northwest), attributed by VarietyVista and cross-referenced as FS-501 in the Fivaz-Stanton reference. Die markers: UVC-247 and DMR-003. Stage A is early die state (unconfirmed). The FS-501 listing places RPM-002 among the significant repunched mintmark varieties in the Roosevelt Dime series recognized by the major U.S. variety literature. Roosevelt Dimes from 1946 through 1964 were struck in 90% silver, making this a 90% silver RPM variety.
