1953-S Repunched Mintmark RPM-007
Error
Description
An S/S Rotated CCW variety, this VarietyVista-documented San Francisco Mint Lincoln Wheat Cent RPM-007 documents a reverse die change within its four-stage production history. Die markers span two pairings: UVC-485 / DMR-010 for Stage A with obverse and reverse at EMDS, Stage B with both at MDS, and Stage C with obverse at LMDS and a die crack from middle of right wheat to rim at LMDS; then UVC-1057 / DMR-034 for Stage D with obverse at LDS, reverse die changed at LDS, and die scratches North-South on reverse. The fresh North-South die scratches on the replacement reverse at Stage D contrast with the worn original, confirming the swap. The counter-clockwise rotational displacement creates an angular offset distinguishable from simple directional RPMs. Composed of 95% copper and 5% tin-zinc at 3.11 grams and 19.05 mm, the 1953-S came from San Francisco Mint production.
