1953 (D) Roosevelt Dime - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-004

Description

1953-D WRPM-004 is a repunched mint mark on the 1953-D Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as D/D Tilted (Rotated). NW/SE scratches run across the obverse fields and design, and a strong NW/SE scratch runs from the neck to the date's 3. NE/SW scratches cross RTY in LIBERTY. Gouges sit in front of the nose and over the 3 of the date. On the reverse, remnants of a die clash cross the olive branch, overlapped by crisscrossing scratches left from efforts to remove the marks. A scratch extends S off the first T in STATES, and many curving scratches lie between the oak branch and OF AMERICA. A N/S scratch sits between the dot and the E of E PLURIBUS UNUM. Long gouges lie between N and E in ONE and under the N, a gouge sits over the I in DIME, and another lies close to the rim, between AMERICA's first A and the F in OF.
