Description

Cataloged by VarietyVista under UVC-430 and DMR-021, this Denver Lincoln wheat cent carries a repunched D mintmark documented across three die states with progressive deterioration on both sides. Stage A in early die state remains unconfirmed. Stage B at mid die state introduces a light die crack at the lower tip of the 9 in the date and another light die crack in the hair, with the reverse also in mid condition. By Stage C in late die state, a die crack develops on the forehead, numerous die scratches appear across the reverse, and die chips form on the T of CENT. The crack progression from the date 9 and hair in Stage B to the forehead in Stage C traces the typical path of obverse stress migration across Lincoln's portrait. The numerous reverse die scratches appearing exclusively in Stage C suggest the die underwent significant surface distress in its final service period.
