Description

Recorded as UVC-426 and DMR-017, the 1952-D Lincoln Wheat Cent RPM-015 documents a mintmark variety that progressed through four distinct die states during its production life at the Denver Mint. Stage A, representing the earliest die state, remains unconfirmed. Stage B shows both obverse and reverse in mid-die state. Stage C introduces a light die crack in the hair area paired with a die gouge beneath the lapel and another gouge running south-southwest across the vest, while the reverse enters late die state. By Stage D, the die gouge on the vest has worn away through continued use, and die chips appear on the T of CENT — hallmarks of very late die state that signal the end of serviceable life. Attributed by VarietyVista, this variety comes from the post-war boom era when the Denver Mint produced Lincoln Cents in enormous quantities.
