1951-S Repunched Mintmark WRPM-017
Error
Description
Seventeenth RPM for the 1951 San Francisco Lincoln Wheat Cent, where the initial S mintmark placement was corrected with a second punch at a slightly different position. Cross-referenced as CONECA RPM #14 and Wexler Variety ID: 1951-S 1¢ WRPM-017, attributed by the Wexler Team. San Francisco struck approximately 136 million cents in 1951, each requiring an individually hand-punched S mintmark that frequently produced positional variations. Seventeen RPMs from this single date illustrates the inherent variability of hand-punching, a process that generated variety material systematically across the Wheat Cent era from 1909 through 1958.
