1951 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-012

Description

1951-S WRPM-012 is a repunched mint mark on the 1951-S Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as S/S East: the secondary S lies east of the primary. Obverse markers: a long NE/SW crack that starts at the bow tie and crosses the lapel to the base of the bust; a crack heading NE from the shoulder; a curving crack heading north from the top of the ear; another crack branching east from the hair crack and bending south behind the eye; and two gouges under the mint mark. Reverse markers: chips on CENT's T; strong N/S field scratches; a strong NW/SE scratch from CENT's T to STATES' last T; a strong N/S scratch from the left side of ONE's N to UNITED's D; many crisscrossing scratches between UNUM and ONE's E; and a gouge NW of UNITED's U. John Bordner submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as RPM #10 and Coppercoins as 1951S-1MM-010.
