Description

Documented by VarietyVista, this San Francisco Mint Lincoln Wheat Cent tracks five stages across two UVC pairings with a reverse die change between Stages D and E. Die markers UVC-405 / DMR-011: Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B with obverse and reverse at EMDS; Stage C with obverse at MDS and a die crack from the lower right wheat to rim at MDS; Stage D with a long die crack through the hair at LMDS and a die crack from E of ONE to rim between BU of PLURIBUS at LMDS. Then UVC-3434 / DMR-025: Stage E with obverse at LDS and the reverse die changed at EMDS. The hair die crack at Stage D traversing Lincoln's portrait documents significant obverse structural fatigue, while the E-of-ONE-to-PLURIBUS reverse crack confirms the original reverse reached its end. Struck in 95% copper and 5% tin-zinc at 3.11 grams and 19.05 mm.
