Description

On John Flanagan's Washington Quarter obverse, DDO-005 from the 1951 Philadelphia issue shows light spread on LIBERTY arcing above George Washington's portrait. The obverse is paired with ODV-006 (Obverse Die Variety 006), a VarietyVista designation identifying specific die characteristics beyond the hub doubling. Die markers UVC-0752 and DMR-009 confirm the working die, documented across three die states: Stage A in Early Die State (unconfirmed), Stage B in Mid Die State (unconfirmed), and Stage C where both obverse and reverse reach Late Die State with advanced wear and possible die cracks. This progression lets collectors assemble a die-state set tracking surface evolution from fresh to heavily worn. The 1951 Washington Quarter was struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 90% silver at 6.25 grams.
