Description

Documented by VarietyVista, this Denver Mint Lincoln Wheat Cent is the 29th cataloged RPM for the prolific 1951-D date, with die markers recording progressive cracking across Lincoln's portrait. Die markers UVC-388 / DMR-035: Stage A with a die scratch behind bust at EDS and a die scratch from N of CENT to N of ONE at EDS; Stage B with die cracks on forehead at MDS, die cracks in hair, a die crack over V.D.B., a die crack north-south on shoulder, and two die breaks in left wheat lines at MDS; Stage C with a die crack on cheek behind eye at LDS, a die crack between lower B and E of LIBERTY, die chips on stem and right crossbar of T of CENT at LDS, and two die breaks in left wheat grains. The cheek crack behind the eye at Stage C documents cracking reaching previously unaffected areas of the portrait. Composed of 95% copper and 5% tin-zinc at 3.11 grams and 19.05 mm.
