Description
Obverse Stage A: Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: A strong series of die gouges show at the rim right of the last T in TRUST at approximately K-2:30. An additional die gouge shows at the rim at K-3:00 (These die gouges show in all known die stages). Faded die scratches run North from the RTY in LIBERTY with a stronger one emanating from the upper right side of the T in LIBERTY. A NW-SE die scratch shows on the lower bust to the left of the B in VDB. Light concentric die scratches show at the back of the lips and on the beard. A WSW-ESE die scratch shows on the upper cheek, SE of the eyelid. Obverse Stage B: The die gouges at K-2:30 and K-3:00 are present, but weaker (These die gouges show in all known die stages). A short die gouge runs South from the lower margin of the shoulder, just left from the V in VDB. Obverse Stage C: The die gouges at K-2:30 and K-3:00 are present, but weaker (These die gouges show in all known die stages). Two very strong SW-NE die scratches run through the R in TRUST. The Stage B, short die gouge that runs South from the lower margin of the shoulder, just left from the V in VDB is present and stronger. Fine concentric die scratches show at the rim above IN GOD WE T. A short SSW-NNE die crack shows in the upper hair below WE. A short die gouge runs SW from the lower left side of the W in WE. Reverse Stage A: Two parallel, but widely spaced N-S die scratches run through the O in OF and to the left of the first A in AMERICA. These die scratches continue South to the lower left wheat stem. Very light die scratches run North from the upper left side of the N in UNITED. A long N-S die scratch runs South from between the M & E in AMERICA. A long die scratch runs North from the upper right side of the last A in AMERICA. Several short die scratches run North from the lower right wheat stem. A well-hidden die dot shows on the lower left wheat stalk SW of the U in UNITED and between the third and fourth kernels from the bottom (This marker is present in Stages A & B). Reverse Stage B: A strong die gouge (dot) shows above the upper central margin of the vertical crossbar of the T in CENT. The previously mentioned Stage A die dot between kernels three and four is still present. A tiny die gouge shows along the upper right margin of the right wheat tassels. Reverse Stage C: New reverse die. Numerous N-S die scratches show throughout most of the reverse. Some notable ones include a strong scratch inside the E in ONE and a distinctive die scratch pattern through the UNI of UNITED and OF.
