Description

S/S Tilted Die Markers: Obverse: Several die scratches run South from the lower chin ending in the field to the left of the 1 in the date. A die dot shows in the field between the 1 and 9 in the date. A series of strong NNW-SSE die scratches show on the front of the bust, SW of the 1 in the date (Matches Bordner photos). A die scratch runs North from the top of the forehead, behind the front hair curl and reappears in the field below the first T in TRUST. A very strong die dot shows NW of the S in TRUST. A strong die gouge shows at the rim NW of the U in TRUST. Several strong die gouges show at the rim SW from the I in IN. Several light die scratches run North from the top of the T in LIBERTY. Two closely spaced parallel die scratches connect the back of the hair to the back of Lincoln’s shoulder, NE of the Y in LIBERTY. Reverse: Many die scratches run South from the U & R in PLURIBUS through most of the O in ONE. A strong die scratch runs North from the upper central N in ONE. Two parallel die scratches run N-S just right of the right side of the N in ONE. Two parallel die scratches run N-S inside the opening of the C in CENT.
