1950 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-015

Description

1950-S WRPM-015 is a repunched mint mark on the 1950-S Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as S/S Tilted: the secondary S is turned relative to the primary. Obverse markers: several scratches heading south from the lower chin into the field left of the date's 1; a field dot between the date's 1 and 9; a series of strong NNW-SSE scratches on the bust front, SW of the 1 (Wexler notes these match Bordner's photos); a scratch heading north from the forehead top, behind the front hair curl, that shows again in the field under TRUST's first T; a very strong dot NW of TRUST's S; a strong gouge at the rim NW of TRUST's U; several strong gouges at the rim SW of the I in IN; several light scratches heading north from the top of LIBERTY's T; and two closely spaced parallel scratches joining the rear of the hair to the shoulder's back, NE of LIBERTY's Y. Reverse markers: many scratches heading south from the U and R of PLURIBUS through most of ONE's O; a strong scratch heading north from the top center of ONE's N; two parallel N-S scratches just right of that N; and two parallel N-S scratches within the opening of CENT's C.
