1950 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-014

Description

1950-S WRPM-014 is a repunched mint mark on the 1950-S Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as S/S East: the secondary S lies east of the primary. Wexler notes that the mint mark sits close to the tail of the date's 9. Obverse markers: strong N-S scratches under the front hair curl; numerous parallel N-S scratches through and below the date area; a group of N-S scratches under the ear; a close cluster of N-S scratches in the field right behind the neck, NE of LIBERTY's Y; two gouges on the collar at its upper left; a strong gouge heading west from TRUST's T, at the middle of its left side; several short NW-SE scratches below the TR of TRUST; and short N-S scratches behind the eye and in the temple area. Reverse markers: a long scratch that starts just above the right wheat stem and runs north through the C of AMERICA, the A and T of STATES and the left side of CENT's T crossbar, ending inside the central E of ONE; a long scratch heading north from UNITED's U at its upper right almost to the tip of the upper left wheat; and many strong N-S scratches through and SE of AMERICA's last A.
