Description
Obverse Stage A: Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: A multitude of fine die scratches run N-S through much of the date area with stronger ones showing inside the 9 in the date and above the upper left corner of the 1 in the date. Two parallel die scratches show on the lower bust and run North from the front of the second shoulder fold. Many fine die scratches run NW-SE through TRUST. Obverse Stage B: A die crack runs NE from the lower back of the bust. A die scratch runs NNE from the lower right side of the second shoulder fold. A NNW-SSE die scratch shows in the field right of the tip of the Nose. A short die gouge runs SW from the central left side of the N in IN. A die dot shows above the upper vertical bar of the N in IN. A die gouge shows inside the right opening of the G in GOD. A very light E-W die crack shows in the upper hair below the E in WE. The Stage B die scratches inside the 9 in the date and from the 1 are still present. One of the Stage B parallel die scratches at the front of the second shoulder fold is still present. A light die scratch runs SE from the underside of the right horizontal crossbar of the T in LIBERTY. A light die scratch runs NNE from between the upper RT in LIBERTY. A strong die gouge (dot) shows in the field well South of the TY in LIBERTY. Reverse Stage A: A multitude of N-S die scratches cover most of the central reverse. Heavy abrasion to remove a die clash has thinned the upper right vertical bar of the N in CENT. A strong die scratch runs South from the lower left arm of the R in AMERICA. Numerous N-S die scratches show inside the C in CENT with two distinctive stronger ones emanating from the upper right inner curve of the C. Distinctive WNW-ESE die scratches run through the right side of the O in OF with some crossing through the lower F in OF. Inverted “V” shaped die scratches show inside the left lower opening of the last S in STATES. A strong die dot shows just to the left of the lower T in CENT. Reverse Stage B: The Stage B abraded area on the upper right vertical bar of the N in CENT is still present. The Stage B die dot left of the lower T in CENT is still present. Most of the Stage B N-S die scratches have been abraded away although the two stronger ones inside the C in CENT are still present. A die dot shows along the upper left side of the I in UNITED. A few light N-S die scratches show inside the C in CENT. A die dot shows inside the lower left opening of the E in ONE.
