1950 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-010

Description

1950-S WRPM-010 is a repunched mint mark on the 1950-S Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as S/S/S South and Tilted: the S was punched three times, the extra impressions lying south and turned. Obverse markers: many heavy N-S scratches through the date's 1 and 9; several short N-S scratches on the nose's bridge; a run of long scratches heading south through the nose into the field ahead of the chin; a short NW-SE crack through the V and B of VDB; a light scratch heading NW from the Y's upper opening in LIBERTY; a short E-W gouge inside the N of IN, in its upper opening; a short N-S gouge in the upper hair, SE of GOD's D; a curved scratch arcing NE toward the rim over TRUST's first T; a concentric scratch at the rim NE of TRUST's R; and two gouges by the rim, NW and NE of TRUST's last T. On the reverse, strong finger-feeder gouges cross the upper N of ONE on a SW-NE line. John Bordner submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as RPM #10 and Coppercoins as 1950S-1MM-010.
