Description
S/S/S South and Tilted Die Markers: Obverse: Numerous heavy N-S die scratches show through the 1 & 9 of the date. Several short N-S die scratches show on the bridge of the nose..A series of long die scratches run South through the nose ending in the field in front of the chin. A short die crack runs NW-SE through the V & B in the VDB initials. A light die scratch runs NW from the upper opening of the Y in LIBERTY. A short E-W die gouge shows inside the upper opening of the N in IN. A short N-S die gouge shows in the upper hair SE of the D in GOD. A curved die scratch arcs NE toward the rim above the first T in TRUST. A concentric die scratch shows at the rim NE of the R in TRUST. Two die gouges show near the rim NW and NE of the last T in TRUST. Reverse: Strong “finger feeder” die gouges run SW-NE through the upper N in ONE.
