Description

S/S West Die Markers: Obverse Obverse Stage A: A strong die clash shows at the neck above the upper bowtie. A strong die scratch runs NNW from the upper right side of the 1 in the date. A light die crack runs North from the upper ear, through the hair and ends at the lower right corner of the W in WE. Obverse Stage B: The die crack on the head is stronger and runs to the rim along the right side of the W in WE. A die crack runs SW from the lower left corner of the bowtie, ending just left of the top buttonhole. A N-S die crack shows on the lower bust, NW of the first shoulder fold. Reverse Stage A: A strong E-W die scratch runs through the upper vertical bar of the T in CENT. Several die scratches run N-S through and below the C in CENT, the N in UNUM and the O in OF. A short die scratch runs South from the right side of the lower O in OF. Several light die scratches connect the upper left side of the O in ONE with the first U in PLURIBUS. Reverse Stage B: A strong die gouge (dot) shows above the upper left side of the T in CENT. A die crack runs SE to the rim on the lower right wheat stalk left of the last A in AMERICA.
