1950 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-008

Description

1950-S WRPM-008 is a repunched mint mark on the 1950-S Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as S/S West: the secondary S lies west of the primary. Obverse Stage A has a strong clash at the neck above the upper bow tie; a strong scratch heading NNW from the upper right of the 1 in the date; and a light crack running north from the upper ear, across the hair, to the W of WE at its lower right corner. On Stage B the head crack is stronger and reaches the rim along the W's right side; a crack heads SW from the bow tie's lower left corner, ending just left of the top buttonhole; and a N-S crack appears low on the bust, NW of the first shoulder fold. On the reverse, Stage A has a strong E-W scratch through the upper part of the T's vertical bar in CENT; several N-S scratches through and below the C of CENT, the N of UNUM and the O of OF; a short scratch heading south from the lower O in OF, on its right side; and several light scratches joining the O of ONE (upper left) to the first U of PLURIBUS. Stage B adds a strong gouge (dot) above the upper left of the T in CENT, and a crack on the right wheat stalk, low down and left of AMERICA's last A, that runs SE to the rim.
