1950 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-007

Description

1950-S WRPM-007 is a repunched mint mark on the 1950-S Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as S/S Tilted: the secondary S is turned relative to the primary. Obverse markers: many light NNW-SSE scratches across the date's left edge; a clash remnant on the neck's front, north of the bow tie; many scratches heading north from the upper RTY of LIBERTY; a N-S scratch almost exactly centered in the ear opening; a gouge (dot) in the field below the R of TRUST; another gouge (dot) in the field SE of GOD's O; and many mostly E-W concentric scratches on the lower bust and lapel. Reverse markers: a band of parallel SW-NE scratches through and below the C and E of CENT; many scratches heading south from below the IBU of PLURIBUS into the upper N of ONE; a strong scratch heading north from the A of STATES, starting at its lower left edge; a clash remnant NE of the N in CENT; and several N-S scratches through the E of ONE and the T of CENT. Daniel Griffin submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler notes that the original WRPM-007 proved to be another die stage of WRPM-005, and this listing replaces it.
