1950 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-002

Description

1950-S WRPM-002 is a repunched mint mark on the 1950-S Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as S/S/S North, North: the S was punched three times, with both extra impressions lying north of the primary. Obverse markers: a series of scratches heading north from between the 1 and 9 of the date and ending in the field beneath the nose; N-S scratches in a series under the front hair curl; within the D of VDB, a short NW-SE gouge; and light scratches heading north above the TY of LIBERTY. Reverse markers: a N-S scratch dead center in the O of OF; a long scratch running south just right of the T's vertical bar in CENT; light N-S scratches in a series heading south from AMERICA's first A, crossed by a slightly stronger NNW-SSE scratch; a scratch heading north from the lower right wheat stem that cuts through the last A of AMERICA; a light scratch heading south from the left edge of the first T's crossbar in STATES and ending just right of the first S at its lower right; and parallel N-S scratches in a series in the field east of ONE's E. John Bordner submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as RPM #2 and Coppercoins as 1950S-1MM-002.
