1950 Proof Franklin Half Dollar - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-002

Description

1950 WDDO-002 is a doubled die obverse on the 1950 proof Franklin half dollar, cataloged by the Wexler team. LIBERTY, the date and IN GOD WE TRUST show a spread toward the center. On the obverse, the R in TRUST has a gouge at its lower right, and a crack rises north from the rim through the right side of GOD's D. The reverse is a doubled die too, listed in the Wexler files as 1950 WDDR-002: Class VI extra thickness spreads toward the center on E PLURIBUS UNUM, USA and HALF DOLLAR. A gouge sits left of the U in UNITED, at its top, and a diagonal scratch crosses the eagle's right leg. Brett L. Parrish submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
