1950 Proof Franklin Half Dollar - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-001

Description

1950 WDDO-001 is a doubled die obverse on the 1950 proof Franklin half dollar, cataloged by the Wexler team. A spread toward the center appears on LIBERTY, the date, IN GOD WE TRUST and the designer's initials, and on the eyelid, the bust, the lower hair curls and the hair at the back. A second hubbing triples RTY of LIBERTY, TRUST and the date's 5. On the obverse, a light gouge sits high between WE's W and E. The reverse markers all sit at HALF: under the F's crossbar, on its left part, a gouge; near the rim below the F's right side, an N/S gouge; inside the A, on its lower left side, a large die chip; and centered under the A's crossbar, another die chip. Timothy J. Wissert submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
