Description

1949-D WRPM-043 is a repunched mint mark on the 1949-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as D/D Tilted (Rotated): the extra D is rotated relative to the primary. The obverse is also a doubled die, entered in the Wexler Doubled Die files under 1949-D 1¢ WDDO-003, with a spread toward the center from a weak hubbing on IN GOD WE TRUST. Wexler adds that the LIB of LIBERTY, the upper hair on its right side, and the D WE TR of IGWT show doubling. Obverse markers: a long NE/SW scratch through the mint mark, and a SSW scratch from the lower right of GOD's D. Reverse markers: a NE/SW field scratch to the right of ONE's E, low; a heavy gouge curving east from the lower right center of UNITED's E; and a NNE scratch from the top of AMERICA's first A. David Mulberry submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
