Description
1949-D WRPM-033 is a repunched mint mark on the 1949-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as D/D Tilted (Rotated): the extra D is rotated relative to the primary. Obverse markers: a NNE/SSW scratch in the field below LIBERTY's E; a crack heading WNW from the forehead, above the eye; a shorter east-west crack to the left of that one; and an ENE/WSW crack in the hair above the ear. Reverse markers: a north-south crack on the upper right grains of the right wheat ear that leaves the ear at its south end and heads SE, reaching the rim at 4:00; and a short, nearly southward scratch at the lower right of OF's O. Brian Ribar submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
