1949 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-018

Description

1949-D WRPM-018 is a repunched mint mark on the 1949-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as D/D Tilted (Rotated) & Tilted (Rotated). Obverse Stage A: light NNE/SSW scratches in the fields and a clash at the throat. On Obverse Stage B the scratches and the clash are weaker. Reverse Stage A: a NW/SE scratch inside ONE's O; a NE scratch from the upper right of that O; a NW/SE scratch above the upper right of CENT's N; and NNE/SSW scratches in the fields. On Reverse Stage B all the scratches remain but are weak, and a crack runs NNW from the rim at 4:00 to the right wheat ear, then turns north along the ear's right side. John Schmitt submitted Stage A and David Mulberry Stage B. Wexler lists no cross-references.
