1949 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-015

Description

1949-D WRPM-015 is a repunched mint mark on the 1949-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as D/D Tilted (Rotated): the extra D is rotated relative to the primary. Obverse Stage A: a trace of the first mint mark under the mint mark; circular paired scratches running NE at the back of the head; and an east-west scratch on the neck, under the ear. Obverse Stage B adds a crack starting at the rim and continuing NE above VDB. Reverse Stage A: a scratch running north from the top of UNITED's U; an east-west scratch through the U's upper part; and a small chip low inside the U on its left. Reverse Stage B adds chips at the lower E of ONE. Scott Rusch submitted Stage A and Brian Ribar Stage B. CONECA lists it as RPM #7 and Coppercoins as 1949D-1MM-007.
