1949-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-001

Description

As the primary RPM for the 1949-D date, this VarietyVista-documented Denver Mint Lincoln Wheat Cent displays a D/D/D Northeast, South triple-punched mintmark across five comprehensive die stages. Die markers UVC-313 / DMR-002: Stage A with no secondary mintmark visible inside the lower loop at EMDS, reverse at EMDS; Stage B with strong secondary mintmark at MDS, reverse at MDS; Stage C with obverse and reverse at LMDS; Stage D with medium secondary mintmark at LDS, reverse at LDS; Stage E with weak secondary mintmark at VLDS, reverse at VLDS. The unusual Stage A observation of no visible secondary mintmark at EMDS, followed by a strong appearance at Stage B, suggests the displaced impression only emerged after initial die wear altered the surface profile. Struck in 95% copper and 5% tin-zinc at 3.11 grams and 19.05 mm.
