Description
1948-S WRPM-029 is a repunched mint mark on the 1948-S Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as S/S South: the extra S lies south of the primary. Obverse markers: a scratch at the upper E of WE; a north-south scratch right of the nose; a scratch running north from the top right of LIBERTY's T and Y; and a scratch from the top left of the date's 1, heading north and west and then north to end under the chin. Reverse markers: a crack along the right wheat stalk's right side; scratches inside CENT's C, with a chip centered inside it; scratches left of CENT's C ending above UNITED's N; and a scratch running south from the upper loop of STATES' first S to end inside AMERICA's E. Paul Funaiole submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
