Description
1948-S WRPM-025 is a repunched mint mark on the 1948-S Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as S/S West: the extra S lies west of the primary. Obverse markers: north-south scratches in the eye pocket and in the field before the eye; scratches on top of the head and in the hair; north-south scratches above and below LIBERTY's RTY; north-south scratches in front of the mouth and under the chin; north-south scratches above and left of the 19 of the date; and a scratch running south from the earlobe. Reverse markers: a scratch running south from between the legs of AMERICA's first A; a scratch running south from inside the right leg of AMERICA's M; and a scratch from the bottom left of STATES' first S running south through AMERICA's E. Brian Ribar submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
