Description

1948-S WRPM-021 is a repunched mint mark on the 1948-S Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as S/S West: the extra S lies west of the primary. Obverse Stage A: light north-south scratches at the date and between the nose and chin. On Obverse Stage B those scratches are weak. Reverse Stage A: light north-south scratches scattered across the field, heaviest at ONE's O, and a light SSE scratch from the bottom of STATES' first T through AMERICA's I. On Reverse Stage B abrasion has removed the Stage A scratches, leaving only weak remnants at the top of ONE's O, and a new series of fine east-west scratches appears in the field. David Mulberry submitted Stage A and David Bloomberg Stage B. Wexler lists no cross-references.
