Description

Displaying a D/D Tilted (Rotated) repunched mintmark, this 1948-D Roosevelt Dime WRPM-002 preserves evidence of the D mintmark punch being applied at two different angles during die preparation. Obverse die markers include a N/S die scratch between the lower area of the R and T in LIBERTY, along with a light E/W die crack across the top of the head. On the reverse, NNW/SSE die scratches appear on the left inner oak leaf and acorn, providing additional diagnostics for confirming the die identity. Cross-referenced as 1948-D 10¢ WRPM-002 and attributed by the Wexler Team. The Roosevelt Dime series began in 1946, making the 1948-D an early issue in John R. Sinnock's design that would continue in production for decades. The rotated repunch, where the second mintmark impression was tilted relative to the first, creates a distinctive overlapping D that differs from simple directional repunching. Die cracks and scratches documented on both the obverse and reverse provide multiple identification points beyond the mintmark area itself. Reverse: None noted.Submitted By: Scott RuschCross References: None knownPHOTOS PENDING Obverse: N/S die scratch between the lower area of the R and T in LIBERTY.
