1948 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-007

Description

1948-D WRPM-007 is a repunched mint mark on the 1948-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as D/D Tilted (Rotated): the extra D is rotated relative to the primary. Obverse markers: a scratch running south from the bottom of WE's E and ending at the top of the head, and a field gouge above LIBERTY's L. Reverse markers: a gouge between the upper ON of ONE; a gouge between the lower legs of ONE's N; a large field gouge above the left side of CENT's N; and a SW scratch from ONE's N to CENT's E. Paul Funaiole submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
