1947 Washington Quarter - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-002

Description

1947 WDDO-002 is a doubled die obverse on the 1947 Washington quarter, cataloged by the Wexler team. A spread toward the center appears on the designer's initials, the ribbon's bottom and the date, and slightly on IN GOD WE TRUST. On the obverse, a scratch heads NE off the N of IN from its top right, a scratch heads NW off the top of the W in WE, and right of the upper queue a scratch runs SSW to NNE. On the reverse, a short gouge heads north off the first R in QUARTER from its bottom right, vertical scratches lie left of the lower T in QUARTER, and a short vertical scratch sits beside the E in QUARTER, left of its bottom. Tony Russo submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
