Error
Description
A CW spread from a pivot at 11:00 shows on ONE DIME. A spread toward the center shows on DIME, AMERICA, NUM of UNUM, right outer leaves and the right dot. Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: Thick, wavy gouges through the front of the hair, areas of the hair above the ear, lower area of the forehead, top of the ERT and center of the Y on LIBERTY. It appears that foreign material was between the hub and the die when the hubbing occurred. N/S die scratches left of the profile. Short NE/SW die scratch on the back of the neck. Obverse Stage B: Stage A gouges still present. Scratches in front of the profile weak. Scratch at the neck still strong. Obverse Stage C: Previous gouges still present. Scratches at the profile nearly gone. Scratch on the neck still strong. Reverse Stage A: Curling die scratches running in a west direction left of the flame. Curling die scratches in a NNE/SSW direction right of the lower area of the flame. Curling die scratches in a N/S direction between the right upper and lower oak leaves. Die scratch NNE from the right upper side of the N in UNUM to the right lower oak leaves. NNW/SSE die scratches through the upper leaf of the left olive leaves. Die scratches NW from the center olive leaf on the left hand side. Reverse Stage B: Scratches left of the flame abraded away. Scratches right of the flame greatly reduced. All other stage A scratches are weaker. Doubling on AMERICA is weak and shows mostly on the last A. Reverse Stage C: All previous die scratches abraded away. Doubling on AMERICA nearly gone. Light N/S die scratches left of the flame and the torch holder. Abrasion marks above and below the lower olive. Two die scratch NE from the M in UNUM to the last A in AMERICA. Die scratches NW from the N and second U of UNUM. Die scratches SE below UNUM.
