1946 (S) Jefferson Nickel - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-009

Description

1946-S WRPM-009 is a repunched mint mark on the 1946-S Jefferson nickel, cataloged by the Wexler team. A secondary S lies east of the primary S (S/S East). On the obverse, a small die gouge sits between the lower parts of the 1 and 9 in the date, and scratches head NNE off the top of the forehead. On the reverse, the mint mark is a sans-serif S; a gouge lies under the second U in UNUM; short north-south scratches sit inside the right arch; and scratches head north off MONTICELLO's M, from its top left. Brian Ribar submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
