1946 (S) Jefferson Nickel - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-004

Description

1946-S WRPM-004 is a repunched mint mark on the 1946-S Jefferson nickel, cataloged by the Wexler team. The S shows three punches, with both extra impressions to the west (S/S/S West & West). Obverse Stage A has NE/SW die gouges in the upper part of the RUS in TRUST; on Obverse Stage B a gouge sits south of the 4 in the date. On Reverse Stage A, a die scratch heads SE off the A in STATES, from the lower part of its left leg, with a second, longer NNW/SSE scratch to its right, and a SSW/NNE scratch lies in the right arch. On Reverse Stage B a gouge sits south of the first U in PLURIBUS. Timothy Wissert submitted Stage A and Brian Ribar Stage B. Wexler lists no cross-references.
