1946 (S) Jefferson Nickel - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-001

Description

1946-S WRPM-001 is a repunched mint mark on the 1946-S Jefferson nickel, cataloged by the Wexler team. A secondary S lies west of the primary S (S/S West). On the obverse, a north-south die scratch spans the gap from the chin's center to the collar, and east of the ribbon knot, in the field, is another north-south scratch. On the reverse, two short scratches link UNUM's M, at its lower center, with the bottom of its right leg; a NNW/SSE scratch lies over the right porch, toward its right side; above the S of PLURIBUS, a short gouge drops south from the rim; and a series of short scratches drops south from the steps, over the N of MONTICELLO. John A. Wexler submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as RPM #2. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
