As the primary RPM listing for the 1946-S Jefferson Nickel, this variety documented by VarietyVista displays S/S East with MMS-002 (Trumpet Tail) mintmark style, featuring a distinctive flourished tail at the S's lower terminal. Die markers UVC-350 / DMR-003 track three stages: Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B with both reverse and obverse at MDS; Stage C at LDS (unconfirmed). The postwar 1946 production marked the return to standard 75% copper and 25% nickel alloy after four years of wartime silver composition.
